Rabbits have been domesticated fairly recently compared to other domesticated animals. The ancestor of both farmed and pet rabbitsis the european rabbit. Wild rabbits live in varying habitats including forests, woodland and wetlands. Domestic rabbits behave the same as wild rabbits.
Wild rabbits mainly feed at dawn and dusk to avoid preditors because they are prey animals. They are herbivores and eat a variety of plants including grass. They have an excellent sense of smell and peripheral visionand are good diggers. Rabbits are farmed for meat and fur for clothes
